Review of UCC written by a patient
20th November 2018

I attended on 17/11/18 and was seen by triage within 30 minutes waiting in clean comfortable surroundings. Waited a little longer to be seen by Nurse Practitioner - Katherine Farrely who immediately put me at ease as I was quite distressed having a rather nasty leg injury,. I was treated with care and compassion by her and the staff and I can only hope that this service is able to continue to treat patients in need, I followed up with another visit on 20/11/18 to have a check up and a new dressing and was once again treated with dignity, respect and kindness. Thank you to all concerned with this fantastic faclity

Great staff, always friendly and polite. Great to see them busy on the wards and having banter between each other

It would be best to be informed prior to attending that: 1. An enema would take place, rather than be surprised during the stay. 2. Spouse would not be permitted as company on the ward until after 12 noon and must follow visiting times.

Review of Ward B4 written by a patient

I reluctantly accept mixed ward / single sex bays, although I would prefer a single sex ward, as using toilet facilities on a communal corridor while not fully clothed can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. I was VERY upset that the male visitor, to the lady patient opposite me, stayed on the ward during the hour or more that she was in theatre - particularly as he was using his mobile phone most of the time ( I am not saying that he was using the camera but it is an unwelcome possibility) THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE !!! He should have been asked to use the waiting room nearby until she returned. There is also the question of security for personal belongings , when patients are away from their beds and , more significantly an issue of personal safety of people in a vulnerable situation. When I raised these concerns with staff she closed curtains to give me more privacy but it was pointed out that visiting is 12 to 8pm. I think that 8 hours of visiting is unnecessarily long on a day case unit AND particularly on a urology ward when patients are frequently using toilet, bed pans , catheters etc. CURTAINS ARE NOT SOUNDPROOF AND DO NOT GIVE MUCH PRIVACY. It is embarrassing enough with other ladies in the same room but extremely demeaning with an unknown man a few feet away from you. Perhaps a polite notice to all patients, male and female, that, if they have visitors of the opposite sex, they should draw the curtains around their own bed to give others on the ward a modicum of dignity , privacy, consideration and respect. Any patient who is mobile could spend time with their visitors in the day room or waiting room. I sincerely hope that some thought is given to this situation in the hope of improving this aspect of peoples' care. I would appreciate a response to my concerns and suggestions. Review of CMTC Outpatients Halton written by a patient

Having attended Halton as an outpatient on a number of occasions, the manner of my treatment and the care and attention from all levels of staff has been exceptional. It is very difficult to suggest any further improvements.

Good care from everyone during my examination and tests. The staff were knowledable and caring. Disappointed to hear they were reducing the time the doctor is available as the treatment, advice and empathy shown by them does I am certain prevent a considerable number of hospital visits/ admissions. Far better service and care than Warrington A&E, although this is a comment on the systems and processes not the staff who in both cases are superb

Excellent care by both nursing staff and doctors. No waiting around, no delays with admission, procedure or discharge. My experience was at Halton Hospital.

I have to say I can recommend having a prostatic biopsy by general anaesthetic. I was particularly impressed by the Care given by the Student Nurse who was in charge of Ward B4 on 28/9/18. However, the Care given on the way to the operating theatre and beyond was also impressive. Thank You!
